September already with a new busy season coming, so we want to share a few short updates with you - ahead of our next regular October Newsletter- when we will have much more exciting news for you..!

Introducing new Radio Mi Amigo stickers!

W proudly present: our new bumper stickers - fresh from the printers, available as of today! 

We'll send you some for free if you send us a reception report in the month of September - and we would really appreciate it if in return you'd send us back a picture of one of these stickers ‘sticked’ somewhere in Europe, or some other exotic place where we are received!

New Radio Mi Amigo International QSL cards:

As 'the fastest growing AM Shortwave station in Europe' we are getting more and more reception reports literally from all over the globe.

There are always much appreciated, so we designed a brand new QSL card for those listeners who took the trouble to send us their reports.

If you send your reports via email we will send back a digital version. However, if you prefer to receive the original printed postcardversion please write to us and include in your envelope either 2 IRC's, 2 US Dollars or 2 Euro for the stamps, to cover the costs.

 NEW: extra -low bandwidth- web stream for mobile and slower internet

Having trouble listening to our High Quality 192 kbps online Stereo Web Stream via your smartphone or because of slow internet connections? We heard you!

As of September 1st we installed an extra -low bandwidth- (48 kbps!) AAC+ web stream that will still give you amazing audio quality on all your mobile devices and on computers with limited bandwidth connections, especially in remote areas where high speed connections are not available.

So check it out. You’ll find these fast, direct listen links to our regular 192 kbps and the new 48 kbps AAC+ streams on every page of our website,  look for these 2 pictures, then just click on them:

Gloria was born in the beginning of the Sixties, when the „Shadows of Knight“ and „Them“ and the „Doors“ came along with their „Gloria“ - and me and friends, some of „Radio Free

Europe“ sang that song, full of whisky or wine.

In memory of the rich and various music-programmes by the English Service of Radio Luxembourg (until the end of the Sixties) and in partial memory of the pirates (Radio England, Radio Kaleidoscope, Radio Caroline and others), who not always in quality but however in quantity brought some change, Gloria came into being first as a little piratestation in Munich taking over the frequency of Radio England on 227 Meters, which was open since the British Marine Offences Act in 1967.

Lets mention the good Radio Luxembourg-DJs in the Sixties (almost 30):

Colin Berry, Keith Fordyce, Jimmy Young, Kenny Everett, Tony Blackburn, Sam Costa, Barry Alldis, Simon Dee, Keith Skues, Alan Freeman, Pete Drummond, Chris Denning, Pete Murray, Ted Allbery, Johnnie Walker,  Colin Nicol, Paul Kaye, Don Wardell, Pete Brady, David Jacobs, Mickey Most and some others. All of them were specialists in music with their own great and wide choice of music.

The intention of Radio Gloria International was too progressive in these  years, when the official radiostations played the Beatles and Rolling Stones over and over again, but a

lot of other bands didn`t become known; they lacked image, support and a good management. They were in the shadow of the „big beat“, whatever are the reasons for that. Some bands were able to survive (like Genesis or Pink Floyd), many failed. A man of Radio Kaleidoscope said „What people buy doesn`t necessarily reflect what people want to hear on the radio“. And so  DJ John C.Taylor came to RGI and created the word „a-m-radio“. It doesn`t mean medium-wave-radio, but alternative music radio.

Underground was the fate of RGI for a long time. Usual music-radio is a result of dubious demoscopy and computertests. Alternative Music Radio plays music not especially for minorities, but music of good unknown artists with the same quality as the songs in the hitparades or even better.

Ester-Sunday 1976 was a highlight in the life of Gloria: the first SW-transmission in the 49-Meter-Band. Gloria came into being as a symbol for freedom, the freedom of your choice in Europe. This fact was a pleasure for all the good Djs on Gloria like Andy Hamilton, John Bower, Angus McKay (Valentine`s DJ Johnny O`Brian), Tommy White, DX-specialist John C.Taylor, Dennis King (Radio Caroline), Mike Scotland, Dave Hunter, Brian Bishop, Hardy, Mike Collins, Janis Barry  and some others. We can`t forget 1976, the great year, when Gloria has been on the air on SW  every third Sunday of the month as follows:

25 April, 16 May, 20 June, 18 July, 15 August for more than 4 hours, broadcasting with a 50 kw-transmitter from northern Germany.

Darkness came over Gloria, when the GPO caught it nearby Bremen on the 19.September 1976.

RGI started a new in 1978 as an info- and music-station for the German tourists of the Garda-Lake in Italy. It ended in 1984.

After a long period of not transmitting Radio Gloria International started another new in April 2007 to bring you really good music, old and new, regardless of the socalled „Quota“,

RGI is no more a clandestine, haunted and hidden radio. However it takes a lot of money to work really free.

Just a short message to let you know that -as one of the fastest growing Radio Stations on
Europes airwaves- we are always on the move!
This weekend we are adding 2 Stereo FM frequencies: 92.3 and 106 FM in Spain, Costa
Blanca and very soon we hope to add a new Medium Wave service in Central Europe.
But we also noticed that -after some major improvements to our stereo webstream more and
more listeners tune in online to enjoy our great selection of unique and carefully picked songs
from ‘The Golden Era of Offshore Radio' as a continuous background to their daily activities.
Therefore we thought it might be convenient for you to have the full updated schedule
for our 24/7 web stream as a separate pdf file to print or keep at hand.
Of course this schedule, plus all Shortwave- Medium Wave and FM schedules and their
frequencies and much more, such as bio's of our DJ’s, details and pictures of our transmitters,
links to the WebSDR, Facebook and Mixcloud, the Mi Amigo Webshop and our guestbook can

Radio MI AMIGO 3985 Khz News test !!

Autumn and winter is coming as conditions on 

Shortwave change.



Our daily broadcasts on 6005 kHz in the 49-meter band maybe harder to receive in the dark at nighttime. We are therefore testing the alternative frequency of 3985 kHz before we make a final decision to change our daily 19:00 - 20:00 CET 6005 kHz broadcasts to this new frequency

 This week only (19 - 23 October) we will broadcast on both 6005 and 3985 kHz to see which one of them works best. Please be so kind to help us by sending a reception report. Tell us where you are listening and which of the 2 frequencies you prefer.
At the end of the week we will pick one of the reception reports as a 'winner' who will receive a mini multiband radio as a reward.
