Hello friends,
A coordinated shortwave broadcasting event will take place during the trial of International Radio for Disaster Relief (IRDR), during the Media Summit on Climate Change, ICTs and Disaster Risk Reduction, 5-6 June 2014, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
More information, including the transmission schedule, is here...

Reception might be difficult in North America. Try this web-SDR receiver in the Netherlands: htp://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/

The U.S. International Broadcasting Bureau slots are 0800-0830 and 0900-0930 UTC both days. I prepared a special VOA Radiogram for this event, but VOA/IBB decided, for whatever reason, to use a BBC program instead.

The special VOA Radiogram will be transmitted this weekend, 7-8 June, during its usual four half hours...

(all days and times UTC)
Sat 0930-1000 5745 kHz
Sat 1600-1630 17860 kHz
Sun 0230-0300 5745 kHz
Sun 1930-2000 15670 kHz

All via the Edward R. Murrow transmitting station in North Carolina.

During this weekend, please send reception reports to HFCC, the shortwave frequency coordination association and organizer of  International Radio for Disaster Relief, at info@hfcc.org -- as well as to the usual VOA Radiogram address: radiogram@voanews.com .

You might mention to HFCC how text via shortwave can be useful during and after emergencies and, unlike DRM, reception does not require a special shortwave receiver.

I will send another e-mail later this week with results of our EasyPal experiment and more information about the next VOA Radiogram, program 62, 7-8 June 2014.
